2023 Novice & Open Workings Tests held on Sunday 30 July 2023

Venue: Dengie Farm, Maldon Road, Witham

We held our annual novice and open working tests at Dengie Farm, Witham by kind permission of Mr & Mrs A Granville-Willett.

 

The day started brightly but not too hot for the dogs. We had 20 runners in the novice and 14 in the open. Our judges for the day were Owen Russell and Vicky Payne with the tests being held in woodland. The day was going well until one of the novice cockers ran into a fallen branch and pierced his elbow. Thankfully Vicky was on hand for immediate treatment and after a visit to the vets, Max is on the mend with some stitches and a cone of shame A slightly different test for the open dogs saw the blind being made forward; this did cause an issue for a couple of dogs but most handled it well.

We must also thank all the helpers on the day and our sponsors ADW Gundog Supplies who supplied prizes for 1st to 4th in both tests.
